How to choose the right red light therapy device
Targeted vs full body treatment
The first question is whether you need a device for a specific area or for broader coverage. If you are looking to support skin health on your face, comfort around a single joint, or eye wellness, a handheld device like the Target Light range gives you precise, portable treatment. If you want to cover larger areas like your back, torso, or full body in a single session, a panel like the Advantage 450 or Advantage 900 is the better choice. The Advantage Wrap sits in between, offering hands free treatment that conforms to joints, shoulders, and knees.
Understanding wavelengths
Red light (630nm and 660nm) is primarily associated with surface level benefits. Research suggests it may support skin appearance, eye health, and overall vitality. Near infrared light (810nm, 830nm, and 850nm) penetrates deeper and studies suggest it may help support comfort in muscles and joints. Some devices in our range offer a single wavelength, while others combine up to five. More wavelengths does not automatically mean a better device. It means a broader range of potential applications.
What is irradiance and why does it matter
Irradiance measures the power of light reaching your skin, expressed in milliwatts per square centimetre (mW/cm²). A higher irradiance means more energy delivered per session, which can reduce treatment time. However, there is no benefit to irradiance above approximately 100 mW/cm² for home use. Our Target Light 4.0 at 383 mW/cm² is designed for clinical and practitioner use where shorter treatment times matter. For home use, anything above 40 mW/cm² at treatment distance is effective.
Battery vs mains powered
Battery powered devices (Target Light 3.0, Advantage Wrap, Dusk Lamp) produce zero electromagnetic field (EMF) emissions during use, which some users prefer. Mains powered devices deliver higher wattage and can sustain longer sessions without recharging. Both are effective. The choice depends on whether portability and zero EMF are priorities for you.
Panels, handhelds, and wraps
Handheld devices are best for targeted treatment of specific areas. You hold them close to your skin or, in the case of the Target Light 3.0, use the included adjustable stand. Panels are designed to be mounted on a compatible stand and used at a fixed distance, covering larger surface areas. All panels also come with a free door hanging kit which fits over any standard door and has an adjustable height mechanism so you can find the perfect position without purchasing a stand. The Advantage Wrap is a flexible pad that wraps around joints and muscles for hands free contact treatment.
Modular panels and multi panel setups
The Advantage 450 and Advantage 900 are the only modular devices in our range. You can connect up to four Advantage panels together to create a large panel wall for full body coverage. Each panel links to the next and can be controlled together using the included remote control. When you order two or more Advantage panels, a complimentary vertical or horizontal stand is included with your order so you can mount your panels immediately.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know which device is right for me?
Choose a device that matches the size of the area you want to treat. For small, targeted areas like the face, eyes, a single joint, or a specific muscle, a handheld device gives you the precision you need. The Target Light 670 is designed specifically for eyes and skin. The Target Light 2.0 and 3.0 add near infrared wavelengths for deeper tissue support across the face, joints, and muscles. For hands free treatment of joints, shoulders, knees, and back, the Advantage Wrap conforms to your body and delivers contact therapy without needing to hold anything. For larger areas or full body coverage, the Half Stack covers the upper or lower body, the Advantage 450 covers a broader section, and the Advantage 900 covers the full torso. If you are a clinic or practitioner needing clinical grade power from a targeted device, the Target Light 4.0 delivers 383 mW/cm² at 15cm.
What is the difference between the Advantage 450 and Advantage 900?
Both panels share the same five wavelengths (630, 660, 810, 830, and 850nm), six smart treatment modes, touchscreen controls, dimming, remote control, and modular connectivity. The difference is size and coverage. The Advantage 450 measures 45×30cm and is suited to upper or lower body treatment. The Advantage 900 measures 91×30cm and covers the full torso in a single session. Both panels can be connected together — up to four panels — to create a larger treatment wall. When you order two or more Advantage panels, a complimentary vertical or horizontal stand is included.
Do I need a stand for my device?
Handheld devices (Target Light 670 and Target Light 2.0) are designed to be held during use and do not require a stand. The Target Light 3.0 includes its own fully adjustable stand in the box. The Target Light 4.0 has a floor stand built into the device. All panels (Half Stack, Advantage 450, and Advantage 900) come with a free door hanging kit which fits over any standard door and has an adjustable height mechanism, so you can start using your panel immediately without purchasing a separate stand. For a more permanent setup, the Half Stack is compatible with the vertical and horizontal stands. The Advantage 450 is compatible with the desktop stand, floor stand, vertical stand, and horizontal stand. The Advantage 900 is compatible with the floor stand, vertical stand, and horizontal stand. For a full breakdown of which stands fit which panels, view our stand compatibility guide.
Can I connect multiple Advantage panels together?
Yes. The Advantage 450 and Advantage 900 are modular, meaning you can connect up to four panels together to create a large treatment wall. The panels link to each other and can be controlled using the included remote control. This makes it possible to build a full body setup that covers you from head to toe. When you order two or more Advantage panels, a complimentary vertical or horizontal stand is included with your order.
How we measure
All irradiance measurements are taken using a Hopoocolor OHSP-350F spectral irradiance meter (380 to 1050nm range) at the stated distance from the LED surface. Devices are warmed up for a minimum of 15 minutes at full power before measurement. Multiple readings are taken and averaged. EMF measurements are taken using a TriField TF2 EMF meter on a non conductive surface. The Target Light 670 and Target Light 2.0 irradiance figures are independently verified by the Lighting Industry Association (LIA), UK.
