Why 630nm matters after dark.
It's not just blue light. Research suggests green light below 530nm also suppresses melatonin. The Dusk Lamp emits only 630nm red light, eliminating both blue and green wavelengths entirely.
| Dusk Lamp 630nm red light | Standard Lamp Typical household lighting | |
|---|---|---|
| Blue light | Zero — completely eliminated | Present in all standard bulbs, LEDs, and warm white lighting |
| Green light | Zero — completely eliminated | Present in all standard bulbs, even those marketed as warm white |
| Melatonin impact | Does not suppress melatonin — your sleep hormone is free to rise naturally | Suppresses melatonin production, delaying your natural sleep signal |
| Eyes and nervous system | Gentle red glow helps eyes relax and nervous system settle after a day of screens | Keeps eyes and nervous system stimulated, making it harder to wind down |
| Evening functionality | Bright enough to read, cook, and move around — without disrupting your rhythm | Functional but actively working against your circadian cycle after sunset |
| Flicker | Flicker free | Many household LEDs produce invisible flicker that may cause eye strain |
How to use the Dusk Lamp
Switch on at sunset
As the sun starts to set, turn off as many overhead lights as you can and switch on your Dusk Lamp. Place it below eye level — on a bedside table, kitchen counter, or coffee table. The 630nm red glow gives you enough light to see, read, cook, and carry on with your evening without the blue and green wavelengths that disrupt your sleep rhythm.
Use it in every room
The rechargeable battery means no cables. Move the Dusk Lamp from room to room as your evening unfolds — bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, lounge, children's rooms. Wherever you are, the Dusk Lamp is the only light you need. Avoid accidentally exposing yourself to harsh overhead lights, phone screens, or other artificial light sources once it gets dark.
Keep it on until you sleep
Use the Dusk Lamp right up until you get into bed. Adjust the brightness down as the evening progresses using the touch sensor — brighter for cooking and reading, dimmer as you wind down. The stepless control lets you match the light to your mood at every stage of your evening.
Complete your circadian routine
For maximum protection, pair the Dusk Lamp with our NightPro blue light blocking glasses. The lamp protects your environment, the glasses protect your eyes from any other light sources you encounter — phone notifications, bathroom mirrors, or a partner's screen. Together they create a fully circadian friendly evening.

Tested and verified in house
The Dusk Lamp's spectral output was measured using a Hopoo OHSP-350F Portable Spectral Irradiance Colorimeter, the same instrument widely used by independent red light therapy and circadian lighting reviewers.
The results confirm that the Dusk Lamp emits zero energy in the blue (below 490nm) and green (below 530nm) wavelength ranges. The entire output is concentrated at 630nm red light — the wavelengths least associated with circadian rhythm disruption and melatonin suppression.
Many lamps marketed as "warm" or "amber" still contain measurable blue and green light. The Dusk Lamp's spectrum proves complete elimination of both, verified by instrument — not just by eye.
The same instrument also confirmed 0% flicker, tested to the IEEE 1789-2015 standard with a "No Risk" classification. Because the Dusk Lamp runs on DC battery power, there is no mains frequency flicker — something most plug in bedside lamps cannot claim.

Frequently asked questions
No. We tested the Dusk Lamp using a Hopoocolor OHSP-350F spectral irradiance meter, which measures the exact wavelength output across the full visible spectrum. The result is a tight emission peak at 631nm with all output falling within the red spectrum. There is zero measurable energy below 530nm — which means no blue light and no green light.
This matters because blue and green wavelengths are the ones that suppress melatonin production and signal to your brain that it is still daytime. The Dusk Lamp eliminates both entirely, making it suitable for evening use without disrupting your body's natural sleep preparation.
Many lamps marketed as "blue light free" or "warm white" still contain measurable blue and green wavelengths. The Dusk Lamp does not.
Yes. The Dusk Lamp measures 0% flicker, tested to the IEEE 1789-2015 standard with a "No Risk" classification.
Many cheap bedside lamps and salt lamps flicker at mains frequency. Even when flicker is not visible to the naked eye, it can contribute to eye strain, headaches, and general discomfort — especially in a dimly lit room where your pupils are dilated and your eyes are more sensitive.
The Dusk Lamp runs on DC battery power, which eliminates mains frequency flicker entirely. This is one of the advantages of a battery operated lamp over a mains powered one.
Blue and green light below 530nm signals to your brain that it is still daytime, suppressing melatonin — the hormone that helps you fall asleep. Standard household lighting, even bulbs marketed as "warm white," still contains measurable blue and green wavelengths.
The Dusk Lamp emits only 630nm red light, which sits well above the circadian sensitive range. This means your melatonin is free to rise naturally as the evening progresses.
Many of our customers report noticeable improvements in how quickly they fall asleep and overall sleep quality when using the Dusk Lamp consistently from sunset onwards.
Most people know that blue light disrupts sleep, but research suggests that green light below 530nm also suppresses melatonin production. The two wavelength ranges sit next to each other on the visible spectrum, and both signal to your brain that it is still daytime.
Many lamps marketed as "blue light free" or "amber" still emit measurable green wavelengths. This is why they appear orange or warm white rather than deep red.
The Dusk Lamp eliminates both blue and green light entirely. The deep red glow you see is 630nm light only — with zero energy in the circadian sensitive range below 530nm. This is why it appears deep red rather than amber or orange.
1001 K — significantly warmer than candlelight, which sits at around 1800 K.
Colour temperature is measured in Kelvin. The lower the number, the warmer and redder the light. Standard household bulbs are typically 2700 K to 3000 K. Even bulbs labelled "warm white" are nearly three times the colour temperature of the Dusk Lamp.
At 1001 K, the Dusk Lamp produces an ultra warm deep red glow that is specifically designed to support your body's natural wind down process in the evening, without the amber or orange tones that indicate residual blue and green light content.
Yes. The stepless brightness control lets you set the lamp anywhere from a soft, barely there glow to a functional reading and cooking light.
At higher brightness, the Dusk Lamp provides enough light to read, cook, do household tasks, and move around your home comfortably. As you wind down towards bed, simply hold the touch sensor and dim it gradually to match your mood.
Many of our customers use the Dusk Lamp as their only light source from sunset until sleep, replacing all overhead lighting in the evening.
Yes. The rechargeable battery means you can move the Dusk Lamp wherever your evening takes you — bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, living room, children's rooms, or even the hallway.
It works beautifully as a bedside night lamp, a kitchen counter light while preparing an evening meal, a bathroom light for your evening routine, or a soft night light for children who are sensitive to harsh lighting before bed.
At just 488g and 54cm tall, it is light enough to pick up with one hand and compact enough to take travelling.
Yes. Place the Dusk Lamp near your screen while working in the evening or watching a movie. The warm red glow helps balance out the harsh artificial light coming from your screen and creates a much more relaxing visual environment.
For even better protection, pair the Dusk Lamp with our NightPro blue light blocking glasses — the lamp softens the room while the glasses filter the blue and green light coming directly from your screen.
The Dusk Lamp uses a simple touch sensor with stepless brightness adjustment. Touch the sensor once to switch on. Then touch and hold your finger on the sensor — the brightness adjusts continuously as you hold. Release when you reach the level you want.
There are no fixed brightness levels, no buttons, and no complicated settings. You get a smooth, continuous range from the dimmest glow to full brightness, so you can always find exactly the right level for your mood and activity.
Touch the sensor once again to switch off.
Yes. The Dusk Lamp has a built in 1800mAh rechargeable lithium ion battery, but you can also leave it plugged in via USB-C permanently — for example, on your bedside table.
The battery is there for portability, so you can pick it up and move it from room to room without cables. But if you prefer a permanent bedside setup, simply leave it plugged in and it will run from the mains power while keeping the battery topped up.
No. The Dusk Lamp is a circadian lighting product, not a red light therapy device.
It emits 630nm red light at a low intensity designed for ambient evening lighting and circadian rhythm support. It is not powerful enough for red light therapy treatments, which require significantly higher irradiance delivered at close range.
If you are looking for a red light therapy device for skin, eyes, joints, or muscles, explore our Target Light range or our Advantage panels.
When running on battery power (which is how most people use it), the Dusk Lamp produces absolute zero EMF across every measurement mode — 0 mG magnetic, 0 V/m electric, 0 mW/m² radio frequency. We tested it with a TriField TF2 EMF meter and there was nothing to measure.
If you use the lamp while it is plugged in and charging, there is a small amount of EMF from the charging circuit — 0.5 mG magnetic and 18 V/m electric. These are low readings and well within normal range for any device connected to a mains charger. For the absolute lowest EMF, simply unplug the lamp before your evening session and run it on battery.
This makes it an ideal bedside device. No mains connection needed, negligible electromagnetic fields, and no blue light. Just a warm 630nm red glow designed to support your natural wind down routine.
It's worth bearing in mind that every electronic device you use in daily life produces some level of EMF — your phone, your TV, your kettle, your fridge, your Bluetooth headphones, your fitness tracker. EMF is a normal part of modern life and virtually impossible to avoid entirely. The additional EMF exposure from a red light therapy session is small in the context of everything else you're already exposed to, and we believe the wellness benefits of consistent use far outweigh any concern about the modest EMF levels involved.
